Located on a seaside bluff, the Whale Watch Inn stands as a world-class bed and breakfast. True, you can see whales during winter as they migrate between Alaska and the Sea of Cortez, but the real draw of the Whale Watch Inn is its intimacy and splendid service.
The inn's eighteen rooms are spread throughout five buildings. All have private decks and fireplaces and are individually decorated in styles ranging from Asian to Victorian. The unifying features of the rooms though are their high, skylighted ceilings and light color schemes. Additionally, many rooms boast an individual or two-per-son whirlpool bath. For those staying more than a couple of days, the Sea Bounty building houses four condo-like suites with fully equipped kitchens. No matter which room you stay in, you'll find such amenities as down comforters and soft bed linens.
The attentive yet unobtrusive service at the Whale Watch Inn compliments the intimacy of the rooms. Upon arrival, you are urged to relax in the lobby and enjoy a glass of wine. Best of all, breakfast is delivered to your doorstep each morning at a time preselected by you. Presented in cute wicker baskets, breakfast is a full meal with such treats as blueberry blintzes and quiche accompanied by muffins, croissants, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice.
After breakfast, you may want to linger in your room. Or you can walk down the long set of stairs-130 steps- to the beach and play in the tidal pools. Another pleasant option is to walk along the cliffside paths and marvel at the sea beneath you, the trees above you, or the love of the person next to you.
