Honeymoon Vacations

Hacienda Los Lingues- Santiago, Chile

Love -thou art deep-
I cannot cross thee-
But, were there Two
Instead of One-
Rower, and Yacht-some sovereign Summer-
Who knows-but we'd reach the Sun?

This 450-year-old colonial-style adobe residence is tucked away at the foot of the Andes mountains. Hacienda Los Lingues is Chile's only Relais & Châteaux hotel and was one of Tatler's 101 best hotels in the world in 1996. The historic working farm and horse breeding facility is part of the Angostura Estate given in 1599 by King Philip III to the first mayor of Santiago. The property has been in the same family for over four centuries.
Hacienda Los Lingues offers guests 9,000 acres of rolling hills and fertile farmlands that serve both as a playground and a refuge. The main adobe structure with its broad verandas contains twelve comfortable and authentic guest quarters. Each unit features hand-carved period furnishings, oriental rugs, and old-fashioned baths. Baccarat crystal, exquisite silver and china, oil paintings, and old family photographs are on display in the public spaces. A gourmet dinner featuring authentic Chilean cuisine prepared with a French flair is served in the formal dining room.
There are plenty of things to do at Hacienda Los Lingues. Guests can ride horseback or just view the Aculeguano horses at the breeding farm on the property. These horses are first cousins of the famed Lippizaner horses of the Viennese Spanish Riding School. You can also swim at the outdoor pool or play tennis. Trout fishing, wind-surfing, water-skiing, and nearby golf are other enjoyable activities offered.
There are several wineries in the area to visit but you must remember to bring an English interpreter as many of the wineries do not have English-speaking guides.
