In the Florida Keys, an hour south of Miami, lies Cheeca Lodge. Long known as an angler's paradise- George Bush is a frequent guest and even hosts an annual bonefish tournament here-Cheeca Lodge has undergone a multimillion dollar renovation and turned itself into one of the world's most romantic destinations.
~ Barefoot elegance is the trademark at Cheeca Lodge. Guest rooms are located in either the main building or in villas scattered throughout the resort's lushly landscaped twenty-seven acres. With ceiling fans and screened porches, the rooms at Cheeca Lodge encourage you to relax and leisurely enjoy the laid-back lifestyle of the Keys.
Cheeca's island location makes it a "has water sports." Besides world-class fishing, Cheeca boasts an excellent 1,000-foot-long, palm-lined, white-sand beach. From the Beach Hut, you can procure snorkeling gear or a catamaran for sailing. Divers can book a place on the resort's forty-two-foot catamaran for an excursion to the only living coral reef in the United States.
At night, Cheeca Lodge offers two restaurants from which to choose. One is the award-winning, fine dining Atlantic's Edge Restaurant. However, the other restaurant, the Ocean Terrace Grill, seems more appropriate for romance. As an open-air restaurant, the Ocean Terrace Grill serves casual fare indoors, outdoors, at poolside, or on the beach, and is the best place to enjoy a stunning Keys sunset.
