Built in 1936, The Tides is the tallest and most elegant Art Deco hotel on Ocean Drive in South Beach. Recently renovated, it is the flagship of Chris Blackwell's Island Outpost chain. The original 1 12 rooms have been converted into forty-five spacious 30s-style suites, each offering an incredible view of the ocean.
Luxury is evident whether you're staying in a deluxe room, the ninth floor suites, or the Terranova penthouse suite. All rooms are equipped with a TV/VCR, CD/cassette stereo, and a state-of-the-art telecommunications system with three two-line phones, a cordless phone, and data port connections. Other amenities include a fully stocked mini-bar that can be customized upon request, twenty-four-hour room service, and the essential telescope.
For couples vacationing with friends, try the interconnecting Goldeneye and Firefly suites that consume much of the ninth floor. Each suite has two full baths and a private terrace with yet more panoramic views of the ocean and coast. Couples looking for the ultimate stay might consider the palatial 3,200-square-foot Terranova Penthouse Suite.
Guests can enjoy the full exercise facilities with terrace on the ninth floor. Or take a dip in the private freshwater heated pool with bar and buffet on the mezzanine level where topless sunbathing is permitted.
A complimentary continental breakfast is available on each floor, and the Twelve Twenty Restaurant and Bar offers diners quality seafood. Twelve Twenty is expected to challenge other top South Beach establishments.
