Honeymoon Vacations

Hotel Ritz- Paris, France

I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

This venerable and opulent hotel located in chic Place Vendome introduced the adjective "ritzy" into the English vocabulary. The Ritz has been the choice of the most demanding international travelers since it opened its doors in 1898. Every aspect of this grand hotel- accommodations, amenities, service, and dining-is of the highest caliber.
The posh interior is adorned with gilt and crystal chandeliers, silk, and tapestries. There are 142 rooms and forty-five suites that are named after former residents of the Ritz such as Marcel Proust and Coco Chanel. All the guest rooms and public areas are decorated in Louis XV and Louis XVI period furniture. The guest rooms have a mini-bar, wet bar, an enormous whirlpool tub, balcony or patio, fireplace, hair dryer, and safe.
Guests can enjoy the hotel's health club and relax with a massage or sauna. The Louvre, Tuileries, and fashionable shops are all nearby.
Guests should make a point of dining at the two-Michelin-star L'Espadon. This gastronomic delight features the cuisine of Chef Auguste Escoffier who is known as the "king of chefs and the chef of kings." There's also the Hemingway Bar, whose namesake used to frequent this cozy and elegant spot.
