Honeymoon Vacations

Posada del Sol- Guanaja, Honduras

She opened her eyes, and green
They shone, clear like flowers undone
For the first time, now for the first time seen.

Posada del Sol sits on a hillside, tucked between a mountain ridge and the Caribbean Sea. Set on seventy acres, the Spanish mansion and cabins are connected by stone walkways to beaches, a boathouse, and a spacious sun-drenched deck surrounding the freshwater pool.
The rooms at Posada del Sol are simple. They have no telephone. They have no television. They simply wisely provide a comfortable place to stay amidst paradise. Indeed, man-made luxuries would not be able to match the beauty of the surrounding jungle or the nearby sea.
As beautiful as the island of Guanaja is, Posada del Sol's main attraction lies beneath the surface of the Caribbean. Just offshore lies the world's second largest barrier reef. Expert and novice scuba divers will enjoy the fifty world-class dive sites that lie nearby from the Caribbean's largest shipwreck, the Jado Trader, to the breathtaking coral formations of the reef. Marine life abounds in this paradise and you'll have opportunities to view moray eels, giant grouper, silversides, and countless other species. Also just offshore are salt-flats perfect for flyfishing.
Though not as spectacular as the reef, the island does offer several attractions. You can hike the mountain to a waterfall, explore an archeological dig, lift weights, or enjoy a game of tennis. Whichever activity you choose, you'll likely work up a strong appetite. Thankfully the rate includes three hearty meals a day with a strong emphasis on fresh seafood.
Of special note, Posada del Sol offers couples a unique attraction. They will take you to a nearby uninhabited island for an afternoon complete with champagne lunch and private hammocks.
