The Kildare Hotel & Country Club offers the best of Ireland. Set on 330 acres, the hotel allows you to enjoy the finest of Ireland's countryside. Yet the hotel is near enough to Dublin that if you tire of the countryside you can drive to Temple Bar for a night out on the town.
This hotel only opened in 1991, and was known earlier as Straffan House. Yet despite its modern conversion from mansion to luxury hotel, much of the original charm has been preserved. Overlooking the River Liffey, the hotel still boasts wide hallways, bow windows, high ceilings, and grand sweeping staircases. The forty-five bedrooms and suites have each been individually decorated. Antiques and paintings combine with luxurious modern appointments to form a timeless style of elegant comfort. New to the old property is the Arnold Palmer-designed eighteen-hole championship golf course, already considered one of Ireland's best. The hotel has also added squash courts, and an indoor pool and tennis courts.
