The name of this hotel describes its beauty. Translated, it means "Tower of a Beautiful View." Indeed, the site for the hotel was chosen by Guido Cavalcanti-a nobleman and friend of Dante's-specifically because he felt it was the most beautiful site in all of Florence. It's on this site that a 13th-century tower was built, and 200 years later, the villa that is now the hotel.
Today you approach Torre di Bellosguardo via an avenue lined with cypress. Soon the stone entrance, topped by a Charity with two toddlers, comes into view, and you begin to realize that Cavalcanti was right. This is the most beautiful spot in Florence. If you have any lingering doubts, they will most certainly be erased by the views from your window; beneath you lies the tiled roofs, steeples, and domes of Florence. Surrounding the hotel is an immaculately landscaped garden and a terraced pool overlooking Florence. Though the hotel has no nighttime restaurant, it does serve breakfast year-round and lunch during the summer months.
