Honeymoon Vacations

Fisherman Island- Fisherman Island, Maine

In every dream thy lovely features rise;
I see them in the sunshine of the day;
Thy form is flitting still before my eyes
Where'er at eve I tread my lonely way;
In every moaning wind I hear thee say
Sweet words of consolation, while thy sighs
Seem borne along on every blast that flies;
I live, I talk with thee where'er I stray.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway with a maximum of privacy, then look no further than Fisherman Island. When you stay at Fisherman Island, you have an entire island to yourself because you rent all of its sixty-eight acres. This very private, fully staffed retreat is just fifteen minutes by lobster boat from Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and provides you with your own little playground.
Lodging on the island is provided in an impressive 6,000-square-foot Tudor-style stone house that sleeps a maximum of fifteen people. The house was built in 1928 as a retreat for a Unitarian minister. The property was eventually sold and the house completely renovated in 1994.
All the bedrooms in the house have compelling ocean views, and a sauna and steambath complement the five stylish bathrooms which adjoin the double bedrooms. Romantic spots can be found in front of the fireplace in the Great Room or on the west-facing porch where you can watch the sunset.
The property features a rock-rimmed saltwater pool and plenty of sandy beach. Birdwatching, hiking, swimming, snorkeling, water-skiing, picnicking, and berry picking are just some of the many activities to while away your time. Seal watching, whale watching, diving, lobster excursions, and shopping at Boothbay Harbor, Freeport, Wiscasset, and Damariscotta are all but a short boatride away.
Jim and Judy Kinson manage Fisherman Island. Their bountiful meals include home-baked breads, island-grown vegetables, and Maine seafood.
