Honeymoon Vacations

The Inn at Perry Cabin- St Michaels, Maryland

Your mouth
And madness, madness
Tremulous, breathless, flaming,
The space of a sigh;
Then awaking-remembrance,
Pain, regret-your sobbing;
And again quiet-the stars,
Twilight-and you.

If you like the Laura Ashley look, you'll love the Inn at Perry Cabin. Owned by Sir Bernard Ashley, chairman of Laura Ashley, the inn is decorated with the latest of this exquisite designer line. But it's more than just a fabric pattern, the inn has the elegant and historic charm of an English country house, maintained by an accommodating old friend.
Situated on the peaceful, civilized, and serenely beautiful eastern shore of Maryland, this 1820 Greek Revival mansion was originally built by a navy veteran of the War of 1812. This first owner named the house after his commanding officer, Commodore Oliver Perry, famous for saying, "We have met the British, and they are ours." There is a morning room, a well-stocked library, a conservatory, and a snooker room, all furnished with heirloom pieces and antiques from Sir Bernard's personal collection, making it look like an English manor house. The library has a secret passageway, a hinged bookshelf that leads into the Morning Room.
The Inn at Perry Cabin has forty-one guest rooms, all exquisitely decorated with lush fabrics and canopy beds. The rooms are luxurious and comfortable. Fresh flowers decorate your room, a fireplace is there to keep you cozy. These and other exquisite appointments vie with the views of Chesapeake Bay.
The inn is set on twenty-five acres overlooking the Miles River, which feeds into the Bay. Terraces look out onto the meticulously maintained gardens and grounds. The cathedral ceilinged nonsmoking-only restaurant is overseen by Chef Mark Salter. Venetian chandeliers and banks of mullioned windows give this room a romantic aura. And let's not forget the fireplace and candlelight. The restaurant offers an exciting menu featuring local seafood specialties, and provides one of the finest dining experiences in the region. And in keeping with English country-house fashion, afternoon tea is served with scones and clotted cream.
The lawn rolls down to the water, dock, and estuary where the inn keeps its boats. You can go fishing or sailing, and cruises are also available to tour the Chesapeake Bay. There is golf nearby too. And you can always buzz into St. Michaels to shop for arts, crafts, and antiques. How about a romantic carriage ride through the village? Or a candlelight dinner on the dock? If you want to get the big picture, charter a helicopter ride over the bay. And there's a sunset cruise where you can enjoy cocktails as the sun goes down on another perfect day.
