Nisbet Plantation- St James Parish, Nevis
Sorrow was there made fair,
And Passion, wise;
Tears, a delightful thing;
Silence, beyond all speech, a wisdom rare;
She made all her sighs sing,
And all things with so sweet a sadness move;
As made my heart both grieve and love.
Enjoy the romance of a Caribbean plantation at this tropical retreat. Once a sugar plantation, the grounds are now covered with towering pines and dotted with the guest lodgings and an overgrown sugar refinery. Most of the guest lodgings are located in duplex villas amid the palm groves. Peaked beam ceilings and white-washed walls give the rooms a spacious feeling while ceiling fans and louvered windows provide cross-ventilation.
As you walk through the palm groves, the ground turns to sand and soon you are standing on Nisbet's glorious beach. A half-mile long, Nisbet's secluded white-sand beach ranks among the best in the Caribbean. In the opposite direction from the beach, the old plantation house dominates the landscape. Stonework, timber flooring, antiques, and mahogany furnishings fill the grand old estate. The dining terrace serves as the stage for romantic dinners at night, while during the day you can enjoy lunch on the beach.
