Honeymoon Vacations

The Cincinnatian Hotel- Cincinnati, Ohio

Your kisses close my eyes and yet you stare
As though God struck a child with nameless fears;
Perhaps the water glitters and discloses
Time's chalice and its limpid useless tears.

In a city not usually associated with romance, the Cincinnatian Hotel is making a reputation for itself. The hotel originally opened in 1882, but a $23 million facelift has left it anything but old fashioned. Now it's a European-style hotel with modern details mixing comfortably with the original architecture.
The atrium lobby is stunning evidence that the renovation was a success. The hotel's original walnut-and-marble grand staircase has been preserved and rises into the contemporary furnishings of the atrium. You might like the looks of the atrium enough to request a room with a flower-decked balcony that faces out onto it.
There are two restaurants at the Cincinnatian Hotel. The Palace features progressive American cuisine and is one of Cincinnati's finest restaurants. This restaurant is setting standards for impeccable classic service, with dishes presented under silver domes, and there's an impressive wine selection. And the Cricket Lounge, at the base of the atrium lobby, serves lighter fare and has a piano bar. Afternoon tea is served on the weekdays at the Cricket Lounge, and the pastries are superb. In fact, the ritual is getting so popular that local businesspeople now talk of "power teas" at the Cincinnatian Hotel.
Celebrities are beginning to make the Cincinnatian the hotel of choice in the Queen City. The Rolling Stones have stayed here, as have Tom Cruise and Bob Hope. The hotel is located right in the center of downtown Cincinnati, just off Fountain Square, the city's traditional business, shopping, and entertainment center.
The hotel offers weekend packages for romantic couples. The Celebration Package includes queen-bed accommodations, valet parking, the delivery of a bottle of Chandon champagne and a half dozen chocolate-covered strawberries to your room the evening of your arrival, a bath amenity, and a $25 voucher towards breakfast in the Palace Restaurant or from room service.
