The Cellars Hohenort- Constantia, South Africa
Trust me, I mind not, though Life lours,
The bringing me here; nay bring me here again!
I am just the same as when
Our days were a joy, and our paths through flowers.
The Constantia Valley has long been known for its superb wines. The vintages produced here have dazzled many famous palates, among them Napoleon's and Jane Austen's. You would think that such magnificent wine country would be isolated, but this beautiful little valley is only fifteen minutes from Cape Town.
The country house at Cellars Hohenort once served as the Cape governor's wine cellar in the 1 700s. Today this lovely Relais & Châteaux hotel sits amid nine acres of glorious formal gardens. Here you'll find fifty guest rooms perfect for romance but the garden suites are prized for their spacious layouts and private gardens. The public rooms feature original works of art and many period antiques. Equally attractive is the hotel's gourmet French restaurant and less formal bistro.
