A stay at the Grand Roche is a magical experience. Located in the heart of South Africa's wine country, the highlights of this Relais & Châteaux hotel are its sumptuous rooms and its gourmet restaurant.
The lodgings at the Grand Roche have a definite country-house feeling. Numbering 35, they can be found in tastefully renovated stables, coach houses, and several newer structures with vine-covered terraces. Each room combines a high level of privacy and luxury to create a romantic haven where you and your lover can sleep late into the morning. Just outside your room, you'll find a brick pathway leading to the main house where the hotel's restaurant is located.
Recently reopened after a $350,000 renovation, the hotel's restaurant, Bosman's, remains one of South Africa's most romantic restaurants. Bosman's views-of the Paarl Rock, Drakenstein Mountains, and the vineyards stretching off into the distance-inspire romance. Inside, the ambiance of the region continues to dominate. You can choose from many local as well as international vintages on the wine list; there are 300 or so choices. Chef Frank Zlomke's creations are continentally inspired. Zlomke uses local ingredients to produce light and healthy dishes including a series he calls Flavors of the Cape. This series will allow you and your lover to enjoy low-cholesterol and vegetarian dishes in this idyllic setting.
