For Americans, Spanish spas are remarkably different from their American counterparts. Operators of Spanish spas see pure and total relaxation as a health treatment, while many of their American counterparts integrate health food and exercise into their regimens. Well, you'll find that Termes La Garriga holds true to the Spanish spa tradition.
Originally built in 189 1, Termes La Garriga is located just outside of Barcelona. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very private, but the highlight of a stay here is the regimen of relaxation. The day begins with breakfast which guests can enjoy between 8:30 and 10 a.m. After breakfast, it's time for treatments like massage and hydrotherapy. Around 2 p.m. or so, a large lunch is served with plenty of wine, and this is followed by a siesta in your room or out by the pool. After siesta, guests return to the spa for another round of "medical service." Finally, it's time for another delicious meal. After dining, you can retire to your room, or travel into Barcelona and dance until the wee hours of the morning.
