Honeymoon Vacations

Rawlins Plantation- St Kitts, St Kitts

The blood runs thinner, yet the heart
remains as ever deep and tender.
0 last belated love, thou art
a blend of joy and of hopeless surrender.

Built from the ruins of a 17th-century sugar cane plantation, this resort enjoys an idyllic perch 350 feet up the slopes of Mount Liamuiga at the undeveloped northern end of St. Kitts. From this setting, you'll be able to gaze off into the distance at the neighboring islands.
The outbuildings of the old plantation have been converted into guest quarters. They are set amid twenty acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and surrounded by the sugar cane that was once the life-blood of the plantation. In this setting of tropical flora and fauna, you'll stay in a delightfully unpretentious room with wood floors, stone walls, and a four-poster bed. Keeping with the original feeling of the plantation, the rooms lack air-conditioning, telephones, and television, but the trade winds and ceiling fans are usually enough to make the rooms comfortable. Even if you're not a honeymooner, try for the honeymoon suite located in an old windmill.
Breakfast and dinner are included in the rates, but unlike some hotels, this is a welcome luxury not a trap. Owner/Chef Claire Rawson and her staff take incredible care to select only the freshest ingredients from the plantation's gardens, local markets, and local fishermen. As a result, you'll be rewarded with flavor-infused dishes with strong West Indian influences.
Due to its remote location, it's a good idea to rent a car to explore the island. The best beaches are at least sixteen miles away. However, also due to its location, the plantation is the perfect place to be lazy, relax in a hammock, and enjoy a good book.
