When Pigeon Forge first became a tourist spot, it was characterized as one long strip of go-cart tracks and mini-golf with the Hee-Haw studio serving as the main cultural attraction. As the South developed over the last twenty years, so did Pigeon Forge. So much so that the Music Road Hotel is now a favorite with romantics like country singer Louise Mandrell. She describes the Music Road Hotel as "magical." "The lobby has a huge stone fireplace and antique furniture throughout. It's as though you've stepped into someone's magnificent home. The rooms are elegant with antique sleighbeds and Jacuzzis as well as a refrigerator in every room. My husband and I love eating breakfast out on the balcony which faces the beautiful Smokies and overlooks a small stream."
