Sundance was created in 1969 by actor Robert Redford who envisioned a resort where the arts, environment, and recreation would flourish in harmony. The resort has become a major success and earned kudos as "Resort Sanctuary of the Year" by Harper's Hideaway Report.
Sundance is located on the slopes of 12,000-foot Mount Timpanogos about an hour drive from Salt Lake City. At the resort are ninety rustically elegant cottages that have won the attention of Architectural Digest. All the cottages are within a short walking distance to Sundance Village. Each cottage contains three guest quarters apiece with varying levels of amenities and decorated with Navajo rugs and Native American crafts. The standard room provides you with a queen bed, private bath, and separate vanity area. The junior suite features a kitchenette, fireplace, private patio, queen bed, and private bath. The master suite has a full kitchen, dining table, fireplace, private patio, queen bed, and bath. All guest quarters have a private entrance and come with a full American breakfast for two served daily in the Foundry Grill.
The resort has two restaurants which offer authentic regional cooking. The signature restaurant, the Tree Room, offers candlelight dining with food prepared from the kitchen of award-winning Chef Jean Louis Montecot. The restaurant is graced with Native American art and Western memorabalia from Robert Redford's personal collection.
There's something to do for everyone who visits Sundance. You can enjoy the fresh air and gorgeous scenery as you hike to Stewart Falls or try your hand at flyfishing or horseback riding.
Winter activities abound here. Sundance Resort closes its slopes to the first 1,200 skiers to ensure a quality skiing experience. Downhill skiers have their choice of forty-one trails spread over 450 acres. Cross-country skiing is also available as is skating, snowshoeing, and sledding.
